Sends
Pro Tools | First lets you insert up to four sends on each audio track, Auxiliary Input, or Instrument track.
Sends provide the following features:
• Sends can be set as pre- or post-fader.
• Sends can show level meters.
• Send controls can be displayed and edited from the Mix or Edit windows, or in their own output windows.
• Sends can be assigned to available output and bus paths (main or sub-paths), in mono or stereo, or any of the supported multichannel formats for surround mixing.
• Each send can have multiple assignments (for example, to available output and bus paths).
To be audible, sends must be returned to the mix through an Auxiliary Input, audio track, or Instrument track. The sends can then be monitored and processed through an Auxiliary Input (or Instrument track), recorded to audio tracks, and exported as part of the audio mix. (Exporting audio mix and mixdown are explained in
“Mixdown” on page 811).
