Shutting Down or Starting Up your System
To ensure that the components of your system communicate properly with each other, start them in the following order.
Shut down your Pro Tools | First system in this order:
1. Quit Pro Tools (on Mac: Pro Tools > Quit, or on Windows: File > Exit).
2. Turn off any MIDI interfaces and devices.
3. For systems that use an audio interface that requires external power, turn off the hardware.
4. Turn off any control surfaces.
5. Turn off any external hard drives.
6. Turn off your computer.
Start up your Pro Tools | First system in this order:
1. Lower the volume of all output devices in your system.
2. Turn off or lower the volume of all output devices in your system.
3. For systems with audio interfaces that require external power, turn on the hardware. Wait at least fifteen seconds for the audio interface to initialize.
4. Turn on your computer.
5. Launch Pro Tools | First.
