Export Audio Mix
The Export Audio Mix command lets you mix down any or all of the available voices on your system. Exporting the audio mix records separate audio files, so you do not have to reserve any tracks for the export. An export can be done offline (faster than real-time) or in real-time (so you can listen to audio playback of your mix during the export).
You can use the Export Audio Mix command to export loops, sub-mixes, stems or any other project audio. You can use it to create final mono or stereo master files in any of several audio file formats. Export Audio Mix also provides conversion options for sample rate, bit resolution, and format. It will even let you automatically import exported files after the export is complete.
To Export an Audio Mix (basic instructions):
1. Make a Timeline selection to define the range to be exported.
2. Choose File > Export > Audio Mix.
4. Click Export.
When you export the audio mix, the resulting file includes the following:
• Audible Tracks
All audible tracks that are routed to the output which is selected as the Mixdown Source are included in the export. Any muted tracks are not included in the export. If you solo one or more tracks, only the soloed tracks are included in the exported mix.
• Automation
All read-enabled automation is played back and incorporated in the exported mix.
• Inserts and Sends
All active inserts, including real-time plug-ins and hardware inserts, are applied to the exported mix.
• Selection or Track Length
If you make a selection in a track, the exported mix will be the length of the selection. If there is no selection in any track, the export will be the length of the longest audible track in the project.
• Time Stamp Information
Exported material is automatically time stamped so that you can drag it into a track and place it at the same location as the original material.
• Exported Files Are Delay-Compensated
Pro Tools | First automatically compensates for any bus and plug-in delays when exporting the audio mix. This means that if an exported file is imported back into a project, and placed directly in time against the source mix, it is time-aligned with the original source mix.
• Record-Enabled Tracks Cannot Be Exported
Pro Tools | First does not include tracks that are record-enabled in the export.
