Looping playback does not enable loop recording. Use Loop Record mode to loop during recording (see “Pro Tools | First provides a loop recording feature that lets you record take after take while the same section of audio repeats over and over. This is a convenient technique for quickly recording multiple takes of a part without losing spontaneity.” on page 233).
