Media Files

Pro Tools | First projects create, import, export, and reference media files. Media files are audio and MIDI files. Audio files are stored separately from the project. MIDI data is stored in the project.

Audio Files

When you record audio into a project, audio files are created. Audio files are stored in your online account and mirrored locally. You can import and export audio files to and from projects.

MIDI Files

When you record or enter MIDI into a Pro Tools | First project, all MIDI data is stored in the project. You can import and export MIDI files to and from projects, but MIDI recorded or otherwise created in a project does not automatically create new MIDI files.
